Marina Bay Street Circuit
Race weekend will see the race starting at British Summer Time on race day.
Real-time updates available on digital platforms and mobile app.
Practice Session Overview
Aston Martin's two-time champion set the pace beating Ferrari's Charles Leclerc and reigning champion during FP1 for the Singapore Grand Prix.
McLaren's championship contenders Oscar Piastri and British talent wrapped up the session in fifth and sixth.
Piastri was 0.217 seconds quicker than Norris.
Alonso was a slim margin in front of Leclerc and a clear gap faster than the Red Bull star.
Ferrari's seven-time champion was just outside the top three.
Team Strategies
Unlikely that Aston Martin will be contenders for pole position.
However, the team are optimistic of a better weekend on a tight circuit that is better matched to their chassis, which performs better when plenty of aerodynamic grip are needed.
Double world title winner Alonso is also known as a street circuit master, and often shines on the Singapore circuit.
But he was likely running reduced weight or a higher engine mode than his competitors, or both, to achieve that pace.
Team Updates
Partner Canadian racer was a significant margin slower in the lower order.
The Canadian had difficulties with his cockpit during the initial runs and was also running new components.
The first session in Marina Bay is not indicative of conditions for qualifying and race as it is run in daylight in late afternoon, while the shootout and the main event are run under floodlights.
Championship Standings
The McLaren driver has an advantage over Norris by a solid margin with seven races left heading into the event in the Lion City.
The Woking-based team are set to wrap up the manufacturers' crown on the weekend.
Sole scenario they can not tie it up in this race is if Mercedes surpass them by over thirty or Ferrari achieve that by 35.
Rival Teams
Red Bull are optimistic of a positive weekend after Max's wins in Italy and Azerbaijan preceding this weekend.
They were relieved when drizzle falling before the session abated by the time the vehicles took to the track on a track that had not been wet.
Team consultant Red Bull's advisor stated prior to running that they needed a uninterrupted running to get underway on optimizing their set-up for the event.
