Check out Twenty-Nine New Cards from Magic's TMNT Expansion (Featuring a Commander-Style Precon Deck!)

Everyone's beloved pizza-loving superheroes are coming to the popular trading card game. The popular trading card game's publisher, the game's creators, announced a much-awaited Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion at a special panel hosted at New York Comic Con. Is this a exciting new set or simply another crossover marketing move? Let you decide.

Take a look here at all the details announced from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, including some useful background. Everything listed here releases on March 6th, 2026, except for one item — the Pizza Bundle drops a few weeks later on March 27th.

Magic x TMNT: Core Set Reveals

Before diving into the many special decks and bundles available, we’ll examine at all the cards from the main Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion that were revealed by Wizards. Standard booster packs for the set are priced at $6.99 each, while premium boosters should run $37.99 per booster.

Let’s explore a couple of shell-shocking details. First, a new gameplay mechanic called Sneak Attack, inspired by the already established Ninjutsu ability, where players can cheat powerful creatures into the game field when an attacker goes unblocked. The key change here is that this new ability can apply to spells that aren’t creatures too. Wizards also took the opportunity to clean up the mechanic a little (It is treated as casting, as opposed to the older mechanic). The original ability isn't going away, but it's more likely we'll see Sneak in future sets from now on.

Should we go back to the Kamigawa plane, it’s possible we’d use the original ability since that's where it originated and it is iconic of that world,” a senior game designer stated. “But in other settings, because the rules are cleaner and Sneak will be in standard, it’s probable we’ll use the updated version.”

Another version of the leader Turtle, Sewer Samurai, is among four cards with special art created exclusively for the set by TMNT original artist Kevin Eastman.

Additionally, if you're shocked by the card text on Turtles Forever, which allows playing game cards outside of your deck, many players were. But according to Wizards, it’s now a legal card in all formats of Magic.

Anyway, below are the highly unusual full-art lands from the TMNT set:

As per Wizards of the Coast's current policy, these cards are fully legal in Magic’s Standard play. Developers say they were careful to ensure the new cards and mechanics meshed well with current Standard expansions such as Edge of Eternities.

“I headed the development for 15 months and we were aware it would be in standard and what other sets were going to be alongside it in standard,” the designer says. “We designed to make sure that they work well with certain expansions including Edge of Eternities.”

As an instance, both TMNT and Edge of Eternities include a blue-red archetype built around artifact cards.

“They mesh together to provide the components for a fun Standard-legal deck,” the designer says.

Commander Deck: Turtle Power

After declining to design any pre-constructed Commander decks for the Spider-Man set and the forthcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender expansions, Wizards is reversing course with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This time it’s just one precon, but it does come with six distinct legendary cards who could work as your Commander depending on how you pair them (five of the cards have a special partner ability named “Character Select” that lets you start with two commanders in the command area instead of just one). Take a look for yourself:

This Commander precon is set at $69.99, though the price may rise due to popularity. Sources indicated that it contains 43 new cards in total, which translates to an additional 37 Turtle-themed cards in addition to the six legendary commanders pictured earlier. (Doing some rough math, this suggests approximately 20 reprinted cards if we assume the precon comes with 37 lands.)

What will the TMNT edition of the iconic Sol Ring appear? We’ll just have to wait and find out.

Standard Bundle (Standard Edition)

Typically, Wizards is offering a collection. It costs $69.99 and includes the listed items:

  • Nine Standard Boosters
  • 15 Traditional foil land cards
  • 15 Regular land cards
  • 2 Reference cards
  • 1 Traditional foil promotional card
  • One Large spindown life counter
  • 1 Card-storage box

Pizza Bundle

Here’s a unique concept for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration, primarily because it comes in a box resembling a pizza delivery box. Every Pizza Bundle is priced at $99.99 and comes with the items below:

  • 9 Play Boosters
  • 1 Collector Booster
  • Twenty-five Non-foil pizza lands
  • Five Traditional foil pizza-themed lands
  • 2 Traditional foil pizza bundle promotional cards
  • 2 Reference cards
  • One Oversized life tracker
  • One Card-storage box

For those curious what a “Pizza Bundle promo card” is, it’s essentially a reprinted older card featuring all-new TMNT art. Wizards revealed an example for the well-known Magic card Dark Ritual depicting Splinter adding toppings on a pizza. There are six distinct Pizza Bundle promo cards available.

The Pizza Bundle launches a few weeks after the core set on March 27, 2026.

Draft Bundle

This special bundle is designed for a four-person draft and is priced at $119.99. That will get you:

  • Twelve Play Boosters (the perfect amount a group of four to draft)
  • One Premium Booster (aka, the reward for coming in first)
  • Ninety Regular land cards (for building your draft deck)
  • 10 Regular double-sided tokens
  • 1 Draft insert (a one-sheet instruction sheet to drafting this expansion)

Turtle Team-Up

Lastly, Wizards are doing something new with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as in line with its continued initiative to create Magic products aimed at beginners. Here, the cooperative set is a unique product of prebuilt decks that let you and a friend join forces to face a “Boss” deck that plays automatically.

The concept is that each Boss card grants unique powers to the creatures contained in the Boss deck. Each Boss automatically plays one other card each turn, and players begin battling {one Boss|
