England Bring Back Bukayo Saka While Bellingham, Foden & Jack Grealish Miss Out

Bukayo Saka in action

The Arsenal forward has netted a dozen goals in 44 appearances for the national team.

The national side have recalled the Arsenal winger for upcoming fixtures versus Latvia and Wales, yet there's no spot for Bellingham, Foden or Grealish.

Gunners attacker Bukayo Saka missed the previous qualifier successes against Andorra and Serbia due to a hamstring injury.

The 24-year-old made a comeback for his club and scored in their 2-0 win against the Greek side midweek.

Saka replaces club colleague Madueke, who is sidelined until November because of a knee injury.

England face the Welsh in a friendly at Wembley on Thursday before a World Cup qualifier in Latvia on October 14.

If England win against Latvia, they will require a just two points from their final two qualifiers versus Albania and Serbia in November to reach next summer's tournament in North America.

Bayer Leverkusen defender Jarell Quansah comes in for Newcastle's Tino Livramento, who is out for up to eight weeks following suffering a knee issue versus Arsenal recently.

Elliot Anderson and Djed Spence, who earned their maiden national team selections previously, retain their places. Loftus-Cheek also keeps his spot, even with the recovery of Adam Wharton.

Saka has featured in just a single match for Tuchel since taking over as national team boss, due to fitness and hamstring injuries.

Bellingham missed the previous squad as he was rehabilitating after shoulder surgery and has only made one start for his club after coming back to fitness.

The Manchester City player was left out from Tuchel's previous selection following a loss of form and has been unable to force his way back, despite a impressive beginning to the season with Manchester City.

The forward also misses out in spite of a revival in form on loan at Everton. He has not featured for the national team since October 2024.

'Attention turns to excluded players'

The manager’s latest England squad brings scrutiny to the players the boss has left out instead of the included names.

Jude Bellingham's omission may raise some eyebrows but the coach understandably feels there is no need to bring back the Madrid midfielder.

Manchester City's Foden and on-loan Everton forward Jack Grealish have both performed well in the early stages of the campaign.

The players the manager used in England's qualifying victories against Serbia and Andorra deserve the reward of continuity.

There will be regret that Arsenal's Madueke is not included because of a fitness issue.

Anderson has looked right at home at England senior level.

The England boss is a fan of the attacker, especially, and also the City star.

One unexpected move, it is the absence of Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton.

Bellingham, naturally, will be needed further down the line.
