Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hard courts

A resurgent the Russian player won his first trophy for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid season, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court after spring of that year.

Victory also means the Russian has achieved 21 titles at 21 various events.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to secure a championship is particularly special," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's retrieving approach and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had led some to question if his skill to compete at the highest level was finished.

But the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and perform positively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

He recovered from a break down in the first set against the challenging Moutet, taking 4 of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair swapped service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

The opponent saved 4 early chances in a close final set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner secured the win with a rally at the net, with his opponent incapable to handle a return after a lengthy match.
